Using Gmail in the classroom

Sue Kinsinger
This school year will be the first time that our district has used Gmail. All of this information was new to me.  I have been able to open and answer emails.  I have formed groups for Special Education, Reading PLC, administration, and counselors. (I never knew how to form groups in our old system.) I have started labeling my emails.  It is great to be able to go to the label and find all emails on that subject.  I am starting to do double labels for topics on professional development.  I am anxious to start CHAT, as I see it as a quick way to communicate with my colleagues.  I do not know how I will use it with students at this point.  I currently email them/send them messages, and they respond through Schoology. I, also, do my news letters and information for my classes through Schoology.  I will contact the parents of my students to see if they have or would get a Gmail account.
This was an excellent section for the beginning Gmail user.  I feel like I have a jump start for the school year.
