I use Gmail for a variety to things in my classroom, but honestly need to find ways to use it more efficiently. I now understand how to filter emails to when students send in assignments via email, I can have them filtered into the correct class folder. That will help with sifting through emails looking for assignments. I do have students turn in both formative and summative assessments through email. It is nice to see when they submit, and it allows for me to keep a digital copy of what they did. We are 1:1 in my district, so it is nice to be able to communicate with students in a mass format through groups/contacts. I also communicate with parents in this manner. Parents have also realized that the easiest and most efficient way to contact me is through email and I can again keep a digital record of our communication. If a parent or student has a question that the rest of the group might be able to benefit from I can reply to all the members of the group instead of individualized emails. Also, if I need to contact all staff the groupings allow for that to happen easily. I would like to use the to-do lists and calendar reminders more.
