Using Google in the classroom

There are many ways to use Google and the many features it offers in a classroom. It can be a great form of communication for students and teachers. I would like to use it as a way of communication for students in the morning as their daily routine. They would be responsible for checking their individual Gmail accounts to see the teacher's plans and expectations for the day.  I would have a specific topic for my students to write about and submit back to me through gmail.  I could also include groups of students if I assigned them the same assignments. Using Gmail also allows a student the opportunity to catch up on missed work if they were sick or missed a day from school. This would decrease the chances for miscommunication and the need for excuses.  Parents would be able to access the documents that were created.
