I use gmail to quickly send out emails to my classes throughout the day. At times I will remind them of upcoming events, such as a test, quiz, project due dates... I have also used it to send out a request for students to bring certain materials to class that I may have forgotten to ask them to bring.
I've also linked individual QR Codes that take students to a Google form to complete when they have a missing assignment. Once the form is completed, an email is generated to the student and the parents' email address notifying them of the late/missing assignment. This was a life-saver last year.
I’ve also set up labels for each of my classes. When the students submit work through gmail, they use a prescribed format for format line and then gmail automatically files the emails into the labels for me...such a time saver!
