I am taking this course to renew my teaching license. I have implemented the use of labels and filters to separate my incoming messages into categories. I created a Tuesday pm group, Thursday am group, a board of directors group, friends, and family group. I color coded labels. I further developed my contact lists by adding addresses, birthdays, and phone numbers. From there I was able to develop distribution lists to increase efficiency when sending communications.
I can see applying this in the classroom by sending out a weekly newsletter(increase efficiency by using distribution lists), a spelling list, a reminder of those responsible for party treats. I could communicate with a student away from the classroom for an extended period of time due to illness or accident using Chat. There would be great possibilities for using google with penpals.
