What is causing the leaves of my Aloe vera to go brown or red?

Red or brownish color is a frequent consequence of excess direct sunlight. Although aloe prefers sunshine, extreme noon time sunlight may be stressful to the plant, changing its color. Take it to a place that has bright yet indirect light so that it regains its healthy green color. Brown tips may also be indicators of underwatering or salt accumulation due to fertilizer. Periodically irrigate the soil with distilled water to get all the excess salts out and make sure that you do not over fertilize the soil more than once or twice throughout the growing season.
