What user rights do you feel should be part of the norms in the digital world? What user responsibilities should be expressed in this digital world?

User rights in this digital world are right to free speech and privacy. But young students often don't understand that there are limits to this freedom. I love the analogies the videos make between learning to drive a car and pioneers on the frontier. These are perfect. Our students really are pioneers in the digital age. Pioneers by definition are the first to do something. Our students are the first generation to have full access to the internet and all that comes with it, the good and the bad.They might think they know how to be responsible but many do not. They not only need to be responsible about things concerning themselves but they need to be respectful and responsible when it comes to what they say and how they interact with others as well. I have see kids as young as age 8 get into trouble with technology. I'm sure there have been kids even younger than this who have gotten themselves into trouble on the internet. I often wonder why we so often wait until middle school to start teaching students their responsibilities when it comes to digital technology. It is so extremely important!
