Previously I mainly used YouTube to watch personal videos. Maybe I would watch a video about how to tackle a challenging new recipe or how to carry out a home repair project. In the classroom I have used YouTube as a way to share short videos, or clips of videos, as an attention getter, to provide additional subject knowledge in a topic we are learning about, or as a brain break.
I am working with some students now who are in the process of creating stop-motion animation. We have used some YouTube videos to get a deeper understanding of what animation is and how stop-motion animation is created. When they are done with their own video creation we will upload their videos to YouTube so that they can be shared as well.
