As a school counselor I use Youtube in my lessons all the time. Using a video related video provides greater engagement and tethers the different components of my lesson together. I have also find that using a video can connect with our emotions. Much of my subject matter requires not just engagement of the mind but of the heart. Youtube is an important tool in my lesson design toolbox. Here are a couple of Youtube channels that I have used with students.
Life Vest Inside:
Life Vest Inside is a non profit on a mission to inspire, empower and educate people of all backgrounds to lead a life of kindness!
The Unmakers: This channel based in Australia has excellent bully prevention movies made by students with film makers that address the topic of bullying, social media and other relationship driven topics.
Rocketkids: Character + Growth Mindset + Life-Skill Learning
Rocketkids makes videos for kids, by kids. Approximately each week, they provide tips, lists, and lessons that remind us of what it takes to reach our full potential and be our best self.
