g-mail

I have looked through a few of the post and I do not use g-mail to it's full capacity. I use it to send out schedules to the wrestling team, track team, secretaries, administration, transportation director, and parents. I need to use it more for contact with parents and to help keep the students and parents up to date with assignments. We have power school, but they do not always check it. I have also found that the students check text more than they do other things. I have used it to send out assignments and changed to the assignments, it has been helpful for the students that were gone that day. I have found that the students and friends in the class are very good at texting the information out also.

Kurt, If you haven't checked out the "canned response" in the Labs section of the settings tab, i would encourage you to try it.  I am willing to bet that as a coach, you have a lot of things that you must say over and over as students move on (and you get new parents).   I know I have often thought I told everyone the same thing, but with the different contact groups, I sometimes have left out info for one group that I included with all the others.  Its a real benefit to know that you can be confident that you are giving the same important information every time.
