My school has been using gmail for several years now and I already have many groups set up. However, this year I plan to set up a group just including the parents. In the past, the groups were for coworkers and various school meeting groups I am involved in. Because I will be teaching first grade in the next school year, I will not be emailing students, but rather their parents with a weekly newsletter and any pertinent information (assemblies, early dismissals, due dates, ...) I plan to continue using the groups as I have in the past.
I have been using the Task bar as my To Do List-I can't lose it in a stack of papers on my desk! I like being able to assign a due date and check off items. I refer to it at the end of the school day and add to it as needed.
