inappropriate digital media

Social networks like Facebook can be a sicky place. I love using it for personal life updates, but others can use it as a place to express every opinion and thought they have. This can get get you into trouble. As a teacher, I try to keep my profile and posts neutral and positive. Over the last 10 years there have been many political posts on one side or the other tearing others down, giving false information, and just being plain out rude. I know there have been friends and family of mine that have unfriended each other due to sharing some of these posts and others not agreeing.

I cant think of his name, but the Venmo Busch Light guy had quite an audience and support group going that he had started at one of the football games. His idea blew up and he decided to donate the money back to a good cause (I believe it was Iowa City Children's hospital). After digging through his social media, a news outlet found an post on his social media and ran with it in a negative way. Even though the post was over 5 years old, Busch Light decided to back out of his campaign and he lost part of his funding. Key to the story is that people can grow and change, social acceptance over the years has changed, but those posts are still out there and can turn around and bite you in the but later on.

Facebook used to be the go-to place for pedophiles. I think these days they favor TikTok and newer platforms to target kids. Very scary. Your post is a good warning about these dangers.
