I avoid social media as much as possible to not have it waste a lot of my time as well as to avoid other people's drama. However, as some of it is necessary for communication, we need to be careful as educators to not show bias on our professional posts. During the last election cycle, some colleagues were very careless about expressing their political opinions on professional posts that students had access to and I find that very unprofessional. We are influential and should reserve such posts for personal accounts.
