With such a wide variety of electronic options for our youth today, they are constantly surrounded with messages. I know that bullying through digital communication is a challenge for our students today. This is difficult to prevent or stop if it goes unreported. I continually tell students and family members to report something that they feel is inappropriate or out of line. If the message makes them uncomfortable, it is probably not well-received by others. Youth need to know that photos and messages never go away, and can follow them to other schools, jobs and professional opportunities. Even sharing a post or message becomes part of their online history. The challenges are great, but as we all learn appropriate digital citizenship, our opportunities for more opportunities increases.
