I teach high school math and so this is something I try and do a bit of while I am teaching Algebra 1.  I try and use real life problems and show them how to apply their math skills.  We talk about interest rates and budgets in the context of an algebra problem.  I would love to see this type of course taught strictly as a course in an of itself because a lot of my students have no concept of spending, costs, budgets, bargains, interest, savings, etc.   I am looking forward to discovering more ways to help my students in this area.
