• What was new learning for you?
While going through the slide shows and websites, there were some new terms that I learned that go with art. The first being that there is rhythm and movement in art. I never would have thought of using the term rhythm to describe art. But rhythm can be shown in art by making the observer think that the art is moving. I also enjoyed learning about the color wheel. I had no idea about chromatic neutrals or analogous colors. Now I can use them in my art lessons when teaching.
• What was a review?
There were quite a few things that were a review for myself when going through the slides and websites. One was all the different kinds of lines that are out there. I had already done many lessons with my students dealing with lines. The color wheel set up was a review for myself. One of my favorite projects that I do with my students deals with making a color wheel picture.
• How can you apply these concepts to a content area you currently teach?
I am currently teaching 4th grade in a small catholic school so I teach my own art for my students. After having the review of the terms, I find it so important to use the terms with my students. Also it has given me so many project ideas of how we can show each of the terms in a project each week. Then at the end of the year, we can do projects that involve them all!
