I work as a para in the special education department in the elementary (K-5). The students I work with are in first and second grade. So their knowledge of numbers in general are very low. But they have come a long way throughout the year. I have been instructed to work on adding and subtracting with single and double digit numbers. I also have been instructed to use money to teach them to add and subtract those as well.
