Thanks for you post.  This past year, math talks were a big push and I hadn't once thought of connecting my math talks with art.  Honestly, it happens when you draw pictures, but this was a nice piece to just let it all fall in place.  

Our district uses Math Habits of Mind and one step is always to illustrate or draw a representation.  I love this because it does make a huge difference to a lot of students to conceptually see what they are doing/need to do.
