I agree with you when you say that once reading the definition and seeing the related visual the connections made sense. For example, I thought the figure-ground relationship made complete sense after seeing the visual of the objects on a plane in the front, middle, and background.

I also teach math, so I will use your ideas as well! I liked the idea of using a student's interest in art to help further engage him in content. Making connections to art to really peak a student's interest. Great idea!
