Using Gmail in the classroom is a great communication tool, not only for me and keeping my students informed, but also for the students to be able to reach out to me when outside of school hours.  I especially use the search feature to track down emails from a specific student or class in order to save time and communicate in a timely manner.  Being able to have saved responses is great as well, to save time on emails I would usually need to send to multiple people at different times that would include the same information.  Being able to customize several things in Gmail is also a nice feature to help personalize the messages and the workflow.
