This is a wonderful website that provides a method and strategy for implementing VTS into my classroom through the use of pictures. The example the website used was a black and white of an older gentleman walking a dog in what looked to be the 1950's. A copy is put on the projector for class discussion. The emphasis of this website is to use pictures to teach whatever needs to be taught by developing conversations that root the students deeper in the subject matter. For me as a music teacher, this would be easy. I could find a picture that has a theme of a song and use that to ignite conversation.
The videos and supplemental reading were wonderful information. VTS is clearly something that I need to use more often in my classes to help children go deeper into the subject area. The implication of the information is that I'm not doing it enough as a teacher. Using pictures is an easy and quick way to get started for me as a music teacher.
