Although I have a Facebook account, I use it infrequently. However, I did check my privacy settings to make sure messages reach only the audiences I've specified. I do use LinkedIn, which is meant to be a professional rather than personal networking site. Even on LinkedIn, where I find it helpful to establish a network of professional acquaintances, I don't accept requests to connect if I don't know the person.
