What do you remember most about the Science instruction you had? What do you remember fondly? What do you recall that were less than enjoyable? What impact has this had on your own teaching?
The things I remember about the Science instruction I had was that in my younger elementary years there wasn't much emphasis on science. We usually read a book or article and answered some questions. However, as I progressed into higher elementary grades, middle school, and high school, science developed into hands-on exploration. I remember the best science classes were the ones with experiments and exploring different outcomes to experiments. After we would do a hands on exploring we would read some articles to support the learning we had discovered. That particular style of learning was my favorite. The least favorable style of learning was just reading articles and answering questions, it was boring and non-engaging. This lead me to the teaching style of presenting students with as many hands-on experiences as I could with the resources I had.
