I occasionally get former or current student "friend request" for Facebook on school e-mail. I always turn them down because I feel that it would be inappropriate to be a Facebook friend with students. It could get me into an awkward situation. I occasionally hear about other teachers that are Facebook friends with students and this worries me. I feel that there are other more appropriate ways to communicate with students in a professional manner.
