Financial Literacy can be used in almost every sixth grade math unit. The biggest emphasis will be on the Percentages unit. Most sixth graders do not know terms such as withdrawal, deposit, debit.
Being the mom of a 6th grader I am continuously reminding her the value of a dollar. She is quick to spend when a check comes and I remind her that if she saves it she can buy something "bigger". As a substitute I try to teach my girls the value money. I have to remind them every August there are no checks coming in from school and they know I budget for that every summer. Some parents may keep money issues from their kids I feel its important to teach them how things work.
