Exploring art has the ability to enhance motivation through gained self-confidence, self-esteem, personal reflections, and expression. These are important when relating to developing career skills by providing individuals with ways to better connect and communicate with others, value attention to details, critically analyze, and adapt.
When it comes to technology linked to art in my classroom, I’d have to highlight our student driven digital portfolios on Seesaw. These portfolios are online journals that students add photos, videos of themselves, drawings, notes, etc. all created with drawing tools to demonstrate their learning. Assignments are sent to me to be approved and then shared with parents. My class loves this!
The article on integrating the arts with technology reminded me that art relates to all kids at every ability and level. There’s lots of research highlighting the connection of art to students with disabilities. However, art allows us to understand the strengths and weaknesses of all learners. The reading and videos keep me inspired to continue my search for integrating art in my everyday lessons.
