Climbing expedition prep in Kyrgyzstan

Berghoff
Planning a massive trip to Kyrgyzstan this fall to tackle one of the high peaks. Going in blind is a suicide mission so I am heading out early to sort out logistics like gear, guides, and permits. I will be bouncing between different towns and government offices to get everything squared away. Since I need to cover a lot of ground, I am looking for a reliable ride. Anyone know which local rentals have solid vehicles that won't break down in the middle of nowhere?

High altitude stuff is serious business and having your logistics dialed in beforehand makes a huge difference. Those mountain roads are no joke so you definitely want something with high clearance and four-wheel-drive. Local agencies usually have 4x4s like Lexus or Toyota which are perfect for that terrain. Checking the tires and spare is a must before you head out into the remote regions.

Navigating through paperwork and hitting up local supply shops takes way less effort when you have a vehicle ready. Moving around on your own terms makes the whole preparation phase go much smoother before the actual ascent begins. You can rent a car in Kyrgyzstan here: https://getrentacar.com/en-US/kyrgyzstan . Picking a tough SUV helps with those steep gravel paths leading up to the base camps. You can find options with enough trunk space for all the ropes and heavy gear. Having a reliable ride parked outside simplifies the entire logistics phase of the expedition.
