Art is such an important thing that impacts people in all other areas of life. One of the major things that art teaches a person is to be creative and think outside the box. There are many times in life and future careers where thinking outside of the box is the key. Art is also an area that boosts confidence and creativity. Students get to think and work in a way that is different from what they are used to. They get to express themselves when there is no "right" or "wrong" answer which builds confidence that transfers into other subjects and into future careers.
One of the main technology sources I use related to art would be Pinterest. Any time I am struggling to come up with a project or a connection to something creative and hands on, I look to Pinterest to see ideas that often trigger my own idea. I also used YouTube several times this school year for directed drawings as brain breaks for my students. It was a great way to let my students be creative, relax their brains a bit, and allowed me time to do a quick intervention with a struggling student.

I had several take aways from the readings and videos in this section. I really enjoyed the video showing the tread art. I thought it turned out so cool and looked like a lot of fun. I really liked the idea of having students draw what a piece of music reminded them of. I thought this was a great way to think about and teach visualizing or making inferences. I have done something similar where I read a passage of some sort and have the students illustrate what they are hearing. They love this opportunity and it helps them to really think about visualizing while reading. I took away the huge importance of art and how it boosts students self esteem and self confidence. Two things that can be difficult to build, but are so important for students.
