Facebook

Emilie Obrien
I have used Facebook for many years socially and see how it can be beneficial and helpful in the classroom if you have your security setting set correctly.  I teach is a very conservative Muslim school; so when thinking about using Facebook in my classroom as a way to connect to parents and show what we are learning and exploring at school I thought about the set up before  that would need to know and do.
1) present idea to admin
2)present and get parent approval for their child’s photo to be online
3)make sure to set up a new account so parents can’t see my personal page and strengthen privacy so that only parents and approved family  can join the page
4) think about the content on the page- pictures of students faces I would skip but it would be a good place to put weekly overviews , notes from school, and reminders about PE and ect.

I agree. Facebook can be very safe if the proper setting are in place. Its also nice to connect with parents and show them pictures of what is going on at school and the classroom. it also keeps parents of up coming events and late start and closures.
