I have had a personal facebook account for several years. I use it to keep in touch with out of state classmates and family. I use it to follow the local high school. They will use it to post about sporting events, exciting things happening in the classrooms, and when there are guest speakers that the public is invited to come listen to. I also know some teachers use it to create a closed/private group to communicate with parents on the happening in their child's classroom. Its a great way to share photos with parents of their child's field trip or a special day at school that is being celebrated. Specific groups would be your local school, your local town/community, your local library.
