Financial Literacy and Social Studies

Donna Dingus
Linking needs and wants with recognizing coins in kindergarten is a good way to cover two standards at the same time. Children understand that they need a pencil to complete their math assignments, but they don't need a cookie to do their math assignments.  When given the choice to purchase a pencil for a nickel or a cookie for a nickel, they realized quickly that the cookie would have to wait, if they wanted to go to recess.

Financial literacy is such an important part of social studies because it prepares students for real-world challenges. Understanding budgeting, saving, and investing early on can make a huge difference in the future. It’s just like preparing for major milestones such as checking important academic results. Speaking of which, if you’re waiting for your results, you can easily find updates at https://jacresult.org/.

My favorite aesthetic features are no doubt the various typefaces which adorn the link dial. From link the throwback script brand wordmark to the serif-style lettering with flat-A style, there's just so much visual interest. Then there are the black applied markers which match the hands link and contrast against the dial.
