Fine Art Methods

Mindy Webster
I teach self-contained 6th, 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and Social Studies to students that have Behavior Disorders. My students go "out" for specials including Art class. I do not teach Art and am not artistically inclined. My best friend is an artist though. I wish I were more artistic, I think artists are awesome.

My students go out of the classroom for Art as well! I teach first grade. I thought the components on the website that showed the terminology for Art was very interesting! I am excited to be able to use it in my classroom!

Mindy,

I also teach 7th grade students and am also not artistic at all! However, I wish I was! I'm hoping that this course will help me better appreciate art and be able to make more connections in my classroom.

I feel like even though we have older students, color is still probably something that they would really enjoy learning and could be adapted several ways. For example, connecting cool and warm colors to writing a story. I would ask students, "When you think of warm colors when developing a story, what does the atmosphere in the story seem like?" This would be a great time to introduce students to this terminology. It would be easy to related warm colors to an atmosphere of fall- the colors of leaves, the sky, etc.
