What was new learning for you?
I have always struggled with understanding positive and negative space. The way it was explained really helped clear that up, if you imagine that the vases are the taking up the positive space, even if they are just the outline showing.
What was a review?
The color theory was review for me along with most of the elements of design. The posters were a nice review.
How can you apply these concepts to a content area you currently teach?
I like to teach primary and secondary colors to my students by using food coloring and water and pouring the red and yellow together to make orange, etc. When they are able to see the two colors combine before their eyes is really exciting.

Great insights, Allison! Teaching primary and secondary colors with food coloring is a fantastic way to make color theory more interactive. It reminds me of how food menus use vibrant colors to influence mood and appetite, making colors just as crucial in design as in culinary presentation. Students likely remember these concepts better when they experience the change first-hand just like the excitement we get when seeing new seasonal colors on food and drink menus. https://starbucksmenuprice.net/
