What can exploring art do for enhancing and developing career skills?
In a general sense, I believe that people who practice creativity have a great ability to approach life with curiosity and optimism - they are accustomed to creating something out of nothing. Employees with a background in art may find solutions others have not thought of yet, or they may see an opportunity to integrate work responsibilities in a way that's more efficient than before. These are all excellent traits to bring into any workplace.
Art also teaches the value of combining unlike things to create something appealing - similar to the way the Blick artist combined thread and paint in the style of Kandinsky. People approaching the workforce who have an art background may feel more comfortable "leaving the beaten path" in order to combine their interests in search of a new job that is a great match for their strengths.
What types of technologies have you used that shares a link with art? Include at least one link to a technology that could be used in the classroom.
I appreciate using "Flip Grid" as art integration into a language setting. In a very user friendly way (I've used this with kids as young as kinder!), kids can record a video response to a prompt. They can record in one continuous go, or piece segments together. They can add text, insert images or emojis, and customize their frame. These videos help kids communicate comprehension of a subject area at a higher level than just speaking or writing. The combination of multiple disciplines to show understanding help cement learning for the future. (and they're fun!)
