What can exploring art do for enhancing and developing career skills?
Exploring art could have many benefits in enhancing and developing career skills such as helping one develop and learn strategies for a particular job easier than by other training/learning ways. As we have heard in the videos, music is one way that helps our brains retain information. Music is not the only form of art that is beneficial, though. Any form of art, music, drawing, theater, etc. we have learned are very beneficial to learning and reaching multiple learning types.
What types of technologies have you used that shares a link with art? Include at least one link to a technology that could be used in the classroom.
I have a Mimeo and projector in my classroom that allows my students to see and hear many different types of art. The Mimeo works as a smart board and students can use it to write, draw, and create. We have a Handwriting Without Tears app on our iPads that incorporates music in the background as students learn how to draw numbers and letters.
What are your "takeaways" from the article and videos?
My takeaways from the article and videos would be how important art is in the classroom. No matter the form, art, music, theater, etc., students can be as creative as they want and in return they are learning at a much faster rate than the lecture style of teaching. When students can use their imagination and create their work for assignments instead of answering questions on a worksheet, they are more likely to retain far more information.
