Forum Post 4: Discussion for Assignment 6 - Angela Spartz

VTS is a tool that allows many students to enter the world of education in a comfortable way.  As the videos shared, many students begin with art at a young age drawing pictures instead of using writing.  To keep this skill in practice, teachers should continue with reinforcing and supporting arts throughout the curriculum.

This article focuses on a teacher's path with VTS.  She realized that VTS can help her and her students make claims and support them and help students with the much needed structure for making argumentative essays.  Give it a look! :)

My goodness, I loved this article. It was an easy read with a lot of good information. I appreciate the other sharing all the steps. This approach would be beneficial for all my students at various levels.  I have bookmarked this site and will definitely use it. Thank you for sharing it.

I love what you said about VTS allowing students to enter education in a "comfortable way." Is that not our goal with every introduction to a lesson or a school day?! We want to engage students and get them excited to learn in a comfortable way. We try to make that connection to students. VTS seems like such a perfect way for students to be making their own connections to their own lives and their own background. I am excited to incorporate VTS into my own classroom in many ways. It can be used to set up a lesson. It can be used to introduce communication skills. It can be used to wake students up and get them excited about a topic or a certain lesson/message we as educators what them to learn. Your website looks very helpful for teaching VTS. Especially to teachers who may be new with the concept. I love the idea of making a claim and supporting it with reasoning. What a helpful tool for students to learn claims and evidence!
