What can exploring art do for enhancing and developing career skills?
Art in all its forms and mediums has the incredible ability to let anybody express themselves. It allows students to not be told they are wrong or didn’t do it right when it is simply how they see it. Exploring art helps students develop their sense of self by expressing their thoughts and emotions through art as it builds their self-esteem. Overall it develops people who are not afraid to take risk, try new things, and builds a person who has a positive image of themselves.
What types of technologies have you used that shares a link with art? Include at least one link to a technology that could be used in the classroom.
This year, I have been using is the whiteboard app in Microsoft Teams. This app has become very beneficial while we have been virtual. I have shared my screen with either pictures or just classical music playing and the students will draw what they are feeling. The interaction between myself and them while they are working keeps them engaged while we can’t be in the actual classroom together. This is a site I use to find images to use,

My takeaways from all the articles and videos is that art is extremely beneficial to students of all ages and at any grade. It should be given more credit for how it can help children of with varying levels of abilities. It allows them to express and demonstrate their knowledge without being bound to the traditional academic standardized rubrics that are used to judge what a student knows. It should not be only given 40 minutes a day once a week, our students would benefit greatly from it.
