Gmail: 101

Rusty Wintermote
Email is my favorite form of communication with students and parents regardless of their location, age, or confidence with technology. It is accessible, quick, easy, and familiar. For those reasons, it’s one of the primary ways that I as a teacher have continued to communicate with parents and students. I have used Gmail to replace the need for printing off endless paper notes, writing in diaries, or organizing time consuming meetings. With the addition of Google Meet, this has just built on strengthening the different ways to communicate with parents and students with more immediate visual help.

Email remains my preferred communication method with students and parents, irrespective of their tech skills. It’s accessible and efficient, allowing me to replace paper notes and lengthy meetings. Platforms like Omegle offer spontaneous chats, but email ensures structured communication. With Gmail and Google Meet, I can provide immediate visual assistance, enhancing my interactions and fostering stronger connections with families in a straightforward, familiar manner.
