Internet Safety

Linda Lucht
I use Face Book.  I post only to Family and close friends.  If a friend or family members share a site with me, I think about it carefully before going ahead to check it out.  Sometimes I think the site is phishing and I get off right away.

The young adults and children have no fear on the internet.  It is necessary that we pay attention and help our students value the right to privacy of ourselves and others.  Unfortunately there people in the world who do not have good intentions and we as teachers have to help them to protect themselves by being extra careful and use the suggestions given in this course to help keep them safe.  for instance not to give out personal information such as address of where they live or their school to someone they do not know and they have contacted them over the internet.

Yes! It's a little insane how often sites themselves (gaining access by people sharing posts) gain information from people just be them accessing the site. Talking with some people both younger and older, they feel like this is the norm and that there is little to do to stop it. A lot of the control of our privacy comes from US and where we decide to explore and click on.
