Norms and Responsibilities

Kairee Treinen
What user rights do you feel should be part of the norms in this digital world? What user responsibilities do you feel should be expressed in this digital world?  I feel that everyone’s privacy should be a part of the norms. In today’s world it is so easy to take pictures, copy and paste information, and share these things. Working with students daily I see students posting photos of their friends that could be very hurtful. These students are then bullied or shunned and may even get in trouble with the law. This is where the citizenship comes in. Students need to see that their actions do have consequences. Anyone and everyone can see it. If you don’t want someone knowing something then it should not be posted.

Your example of a student posting a violating or hurtful photo is so true! It's so hard for kids to understand just how big the internet is. Like you mentioned, students need to understand how actions have consequences. Too often, they think it's as simple as deleting their post!
