Outcomes: I have slightly modified my goals and they are included below.
I will learn more about the differences between differentiation and personal learning and how that applies to school counseling. I will create my own chart of examples of differentiation and personal learning for school counseling specifically.
I will develop methods to allow students to create their own learning opportunities related to counseling topics and ways for them to learn from each other and with each other.
I will develop a better understanding of flexible learning environments and become aware of at least 3 different options I could incorporate in my teaching.
Resources:As I build my learning path, I have selected the Building Your Personal Learning Paths in the PLE menu to help build my knowledge of personalized and differentiated learning. Building the Flexible Learning Environments portion of the Learning Opportunity Menu will also assist me in achieving my goals. The articles linked to the menu will also serve as resources for my learning.
Strengths/Weaknesses: The menu will certainly build on my strengths as a counselor. I benefit from visuals and the chart I plan to create will serve as a primary artifact of my learning in this course. Reading the articles linked in this course and exploring others that are linked by author, topics, and subjects will also help with my learning. The challenge that I have is continuing to develop increased comfort with ambiguity. This is still a new process for me and one that I am learning to embrace.
Modalities: Reading is an enjoyable and preferable way for me to learn and is a suitable modality for this portion of the course. I also think creating a visual poster to organize my thoughts is a great match for my learning preferences.
Artifact: I believe the artifact I would like to present is a comparison chart of differentiation and personalized learning specifically for school counseling. I am also considering doing a virtual sticky note bulletin board of what students would prefer or like to learn about during classroom counseling. I think this would help me put learning in the hands of the students.
