I selected the standard 4-PS4-2: Develop a model to describe that light reflecting from objects and entering the eye allows objects to be seen. [Assessment Boundary: Assessment does not include knowledge of specific colors reflected and seen, the cellular mechanisms of vision, or how the retina works.]

The SEP for this is develop a model to describe a phenomenon and to use a model to test interactions concerning the functioning of a natural system. The video I watched showed the great variety of different types of models ranging from mental models to physical models that can be used to show 3-D examples.

The DCI for this is that light reflects from objects and enters the eye. The video discussed the structures and functions inside organisms and how they affect the organism.  In the standard I selected, it focuses on plants and animals have both internal and external structures that serve various  functions in growth, survival, behavior, and reproduction.

The CCC is cause and effect – allows objects to be seen. This is about (1) helping students identify the cause and effect by viewing the relationships are routinely identified and (2) systems and system models where we describe the components of the system and how they interact.
