User Rights, Norms, & Responsibilities in the Digital World

Lacy Jerome
User rights that should be part of the norms of the digital world include anything that is acceptable or expected in the real world (face to face) as the bare minimum of what is okay and expected in the digital world.  This would mainly include free speech, a right to privacy, and a right to be respected.  User responsibilities should include all of the pillars of character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, citizenship, fairness, and caring).  Students especially need to be held to these pillars of character.

I fully agree on your main points of free speech, a right to privacy and a right to be respected!

I agree with you on all of the above thoughts. With the events of last night and the past 5 years, we have seen a breakdown of people willing to follow these basic rights in person and on social media platforms.  We don't allow the "fire" yell in a crowded room when there is no threat as well as provoking or instigating threats over social media.
