I found it interesting that it is misleading for energy to be described as being in different forms, rather energy is manifested through different phenomena such as sound, light and heat. Therefore, from a microscopic level energy can be modeled as either motion of particles or energy stored in fields. 

I believe students will have the preconception that energy is a force since they have learned that forces create motion. they may assume that if an object is moving it is because of unbalance forces acting on it therefore it is the same thing described as energy.

Energy is everywhere so I would need to provide multiple opportunities for students to observe energy in its different manifestation. Not all manifestations of energy are associated with force.
