DC Digital Literacy: Cacoo & Scratch

Ben Hertenstein
I really like the resource cacoo (https://cacoo.com/home). I can use not only for myself for teaching programming work flow, but with my Help Desk kids to work on making network maps of the computer labs, school buildings and network as whole. Could also be used to help with developing a building plan of each room for technology layout.

I also hope to use scratch (https://scratch.mit.edu/). I would like to use it to have the Help Desk create a cartoon for showing how to use different features of the other students computes, such as spotlight or desktops. Could also be used to create a fun cartoon encouraging other students to visit the Help Desk when they have problems with their devices.

Students like to use Scratch.  I have not used it much, but I know when I needed a filler, the students jumped right in and had pictures going in no time.  It is pretty user friendly.
