DC Digital Literacy:Share Resource by Lisa Parcell

Lisa Parcell
The sites I explored in each section were Google Drive for Communication, Google Plus Video Conversations for Collaboration, Minecraft for Education for Creativity, Kahoot for Critical Thinking, and Flikr for Organizational Skills.
The site I found the most interesting was Kahoot.  I currently work part time as a paraeducator, but before that I taught for many years.  If I go back to teaching someday, I would definitely incorporate Kahoot in my classroom.
I would use Kahoot as a fun and quick way to check for students' understanding in math.  This would allow me to do quick checks at the end of a lesson or week to see how everyone is doing.  It could also be used as a type of review before a test.
Kahoot could also be used as a choice for a book report.  The students would need to generate questions and answers about a book they read and then share it with their teacher.
I have also seen this used in my own children's classrooms.  My second graders had a weather unit and the parents were invited in to view their final displays and reports.  The parents were asked to go to each group and listen to the report.  At the end the parents were asked to log in on Kahoot and complete a quiz.  The students had been responsible for generating the questions and answers and making sure this information was presented in their reports.  It was a lot of fun for both the parents and the students.
Needless to say, I would defiantly incorporate Kahoot into my teaching.

I have never heard of Kahoot. I like the idea of checking for math understanding. Also it would be an excellent tool for reviewing for a test.
