DC Digital Literacy Share Resource

Jodi Behrendt
I like Google Classroom and Google Drive.  You can communicate with other teachers and students.  You can choose who to share the information with and they can edit and send responses back to you.  Also, it is an easy way to keep track of responses received.

I use Google drive in my personal use at home for my writing, but haven't used it in class. Most of what we do is pretty directly aimed at the facts and information the students need to get a driver's license.

Our district is a Google Drive district.  I would say that 95% of our work is done through all of the Google applications.
I have enjoyed using Google to share information and the ease of being able to use it on all of my devices does save me time.

I also agree with use of Google Docs. It is a great resource for students to use. I know my child uses Google Docs to post all homework to their classes.

It is a great way for teachers to check student postings, homework, thoughts. It can also allow the teacher to check a students' homework outside of the classroom and even the school.

The teacher can also post responses that can be beneficial for the student to use in the future.

I love using google docs and we use Google classroom on a daily basis. It is so easy to upload docs to the classroom as assignments, and we can really get a good forum going about a topic or research project. I, too, will share their google docs with parents and even use it for peer editing. The comment application is so easy to use, and the kiddos love to help edit their classmates work. Our most recent discovery is the READ/WRITE tool on googledocs. It allows a student to read their writing into the computer and it will type it as they speak. This has been so helpful to those students who struggle with fine motor skills and tend to be reluctant to write. Both online resources(googledocs and google classroom)  have opened the door to so many new avenues of communication and academic support.

I totally love Google Classroom!  It is the best way for me to post to students and get homework.  Also is easy for linking various websites for articles too.
