For Communication Tools I chose to look at Ed Puzzle. I liked Edpuzzle because it will allow me to make videos that can be interactive with prompts such as questions. You can choose a video and insert the prompts or questions you want, then allow students to respond or reflect to the video or questions. You can also assign activities in class or as as an assignment and then you could do a group discussion or another activity to close or follow up after you are done.
I chose to look at Canva for Collaborative Tools. I liked this for collaborative because it allows students to communicate with one another while creating work that can later be presented through visuals. It allows students to use teamwork and their creativity to make something together for in class work, or a poster, advertisement, flier, or project. I know my wife uses this a lot for her classrooms when she is creating newsletters or posters and I have used it a little bit and it has been great.
For Creation Tools I chose to take a look at Flipgrid (Microsoft Flip), because I have used this before when I was a student and I thought it was engaging and fun. I like that this tool allows students to express what they are thinking and it allows their voices to be heard. Students can tell stories, explain their thoughts and reasoning, reflect on others thoughts and opinions, have class/group discussions and debates, and create their own work through it. I have not used this a lot as I teach PE primarily, but now that I am teaching some health, I could see myself using this a little bit more.
I chose to talk about kahoot for Critical Thinking Tools. I used kahoot quite a lot during the 2020,2021, and 2022 school year while the pandemic was going on and we were online a lot. This was new to me during that time, but I love the ability to make interactive lessons, quizzes, and games that allow for students to learn and test their knowledge over different information. It is a competitive learning strategy to get students involved and excited to learn and review in the classroom.
Lastly, for Organizational Tools I chose to use Google Drive Store Documents. Google drive is a tool that I never used super well, and to be honest, I am still not the most organized with mine as I should be. However, this is a tool that students can use to be as organized as possible, especially for my students being in middle school and using their chrome books all the time for their education. It is simple, and from what I have seen most teachers preach using it. Being able to make folders within folders to keep things clean and making it efficient to find them can be extremely helpful for our students.
