I really liked the Geddit and Infuse Learning for checking student understanding. Geddit allows students to self-evaluate how they are doing on a particular task - great for student metacognition. The teacher may ask - what is your level of understanding on this task? Then students have 4 or 5 choices and they reply back to the teacher. The teacher receives the student feedback immediately and can then use the data to create groups for reteaching or differentiating instruction. Infuse Learning had a lot more options - you can ask questions as they come up or have prepared quizzes. Students can interact with the quizzes by using the drawing tool.
