Digital Literacy

I have used Youtube, Animoto and Powtoon when students make Public Service Announcements or informative short commercials.  I have found these sites to be very user friendly.  The students certainly enjoy the originality and quirkiness some of these sites offer.  When students are aware the information they are producing will be seen by the public they seem to be more conscious giving credit to their research sources.  Each of these sites allow credits and the choice to make the final product available to the public or maintaining some privacy.

Those are good resources.

I tried Pixton this last month.  Pretty cool with lots of options.  Lu said it could be one that we could possibly purchase if we had a use for it.

I struggle finding ways to use these resources in the math classroom.

You might try using some of these tools by having students explain the process they used to solve math problems.  Perhaps they could create a tutorial on a math concept.

I think all of those are amazing!  My kids really created some amazing PowToons this year.  They found some really inventive ways to share their information using this tool!  I was impressed!  

I like the idea of kids making tutorials.  My daughter is often looking online for videos that explain how to do the problems.  Having her peers do this would be an amazing resource!  It could be a growing library and build year to year.
